Mundy Creek Catchment Tour

Including “Brunch with the Birds” at the Town Common

As part of the North Queensland Wetlands Festival Townsville City Council and Conservation Volunteers Australia ran a tour of the Mundi Creek Catchment which will include a “Brunch with the Birds” at the Town Common. The NQ Wetlands Festival aims to promote the appreciation, conservation and sustainable use of wetlands in our local area and the broader Great Barrier Reef catchment area. The tour explored the diverse values and history of this urban waterway.
Itinerary
7:30 Meet and greet – Rowes Bay Caravan Park – Intro/Briefing Mr DJ Mackenzie (Environmental Management Services TCC)
8:00 Walk up Mundi Creek exploring the history (both indigenous and European), engineering practices, water quality and aquatic flora and fauna
9:15 Brunch at Town Common – Bird ID with Rosemary and Jock Payat (Townsville Bird Observers Club)
