Burdekin Dry Tropics
Regional Local Government Network
(NRM)


Has been active since early 2004, working towards building the capacity of councils throughout the region in relation to Natural Resource Management. Previously the network was involved in providing assistance and information to councils during the planning process. More recently work has been undertaken to try and improve communication processes and protocols in relation to NRM.

The initiative has been supported through various avenues throughout this time, with major contributors being the Health & Environmental Services Regional Organization of Councils (HESROC NQ), and the Burdekin Dry Tropics Board. Many of these products were produced through a State Investment Project under the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality.

Natural Resource Management Options Paper

In 2005 the state government put out the paper, “Options for future community engagement in regional natural resource management” to allow stakeholders to publicly comment on their proposed options. The network produced the following response on behalf of HESROC:
