Townsville Environmental Excellence Awards

Townsville City Council holds annually the Environmental Excellence Awards to recognise World Environment day (June 5). These awards are in five categories Business and Industry. Community, Primary Schools, High Schools and Individual Initiative in Environmental Excellence.

These awards help to promote the environment in Townsville. The awards recognise and reward the environmental achievements of the community.

The chart below shows the consistent level of community support and participation. The only area where participation is reduced is in High Schools. This either demonstrates a lack of awareness in the awards or possibly the time consuming committments of students.
